To provide equal opportunities for all children, including those with additional support needs, and to have the highest expectations set for them all to achieve to the best of their ability.

To offer programmes of work which will provide continuity and progression for all pupils, where content is relevant to age, aptitude, experience and need.

To provide an environment in which pupils feel valued. To raise children’s self esteem and sense of achievement.

To review individual pupil’s needs and progress through regular consultation between Class Teachers and the Additional Support for Learning Team

To work in partnership with parents to ensure the best provision is made for each individual child

Additional Support Needs

An additional support need comes from anything which is a barrier to learning. Most or all schools will have some children with additional support needs of some kind. The education authority has many legal duties towards pupils with additional support needs. Information about this is contained in a booklet called In On The Act : Information For The General Public which is published on the education authority website at http://www.edinburgh.gov.uk/inontheact – or contact the additional support for learning team on telephone number 0131 469 3444.
