Craigmillar Castle Junior Tour Guides 2022-23

Our Castleview Primary 7 pupils are delighted to announce that we have created two films of our Craigmillar Castle tour for you to enjoy.
We take you on a tour of Craigmillar Castle, where Mary Queen of Scots once stayed, and show you what life was like for the Preston family who owned Craigmillar Castle during that time. This year is the 13th year of our Junior Tour Guides project, run in partnership with Historic Environment Scotland.
At Castleview, we are committed to the spirit of a Curriculum for Excellence, and our tours encourages our children to share the wonderful rich Scottish heritage of the Craigmillar area. Pupils who have experienced our tours tell us that they learn so much when other children are leading the learning.
This year, there are two main tours available for your class to watch, the Mary Queen of Scots Tour, and the Castle Life Tour, both of which follow the lives of Sir Simon Preston and the members of his household.
In addition, we have the object handlers tours to accompany each main tour. At the end of each film there is a QR code to take you to our feedback form. Your comments will help us to learn how to make our tour even better in future years.
Before or after your tour, you may like to book a live visit to Craigmillar Castle, to explore the site in more detail. You can book your tour directly with the castle by following the link below:
