Black History Month October 2020

You might hear some people ask ‘Why is there Black History Month?’

Answer: Awareness and education about the history of white people is well established but black history is under-represented and under-reported. Dedicating a month to it every year goes some way to redressing that balance and educating us about our shared history.

Each class will be learning about Black History Month during October and part of November and focusing on one inspirational person who has changed the world in a positive way.

P1 – Lewis Hamilton MBE

P1A celebrated Black History Month by learning about Lewis Hamilton! They talked about what they want to be when they grow up.

P1C had some great discussions about the diversity in their classroom. They read the book ‘My Hair’ by Hannah Lee and created their own hairstyles!
